ISKCON Sri Mayapur Goshala is the happy home of Sri Sri Radha Madhava’s beloved cows. At present we maintain a herd of over three hundred and ninety cows, bulls, calves, and bullocks. These bulls and cows perform a very important service of providing milk for Sri Sri Radha-Madhava. Whoever feeds the cow with grass and water every day derives the benefit equivalent to performing Ashwamedha Yajna. There is nothing to doubt about this.
Perform go-puja or yajna on your birthday, anniversary, when a child is born, in honor of a departed loved one, etc. This seva shall be offered on your behalf or that of your loved as requested with prayers for their general welfare
These donations will go for medical purposes, repairs of sheds and bullock carts, feeding troughs, water buckets, blankets, grooming brushes, rope, and other practical necessities.
It costs Rs 100 a day to maintain one cow. Please let us know how many cows you want to do seva for.
“Lord Krsna, the Supreme personality of Godhead, is the prime protector of brahminical culture and the cow. Without knowing and respecting these, one cannot realize the science of God, and without this knowledge, any welfare activities or humanitarian propaganda cannot be successful”. -Srimad bhagavatam 04.21.38
The herd’s regular diet is paddy straw, grain mix porridge, wheat bran, chickpea husks, jaggery and fresh grass. We also give them bananas and laddus as special treats whenever possible, if you feel inspired to contribute towards the feeding of our cows and bulls, please select any seva option of your choice and we shall perform your feeding seva with prayers on your behalf.
If you live in a place where you cannot maintain cows personally, you can engage in cow protection by adopting one of our resident cows, bulls, or calves. You can donate for one month, one year or lifetime feeding and care. For one year and lifetime adoption, you can perform worship of the adopted cow with assistance of a Goshala priest. In case of lifetime adoption, you can perform the worship every year on your preferred date. Become a Lifetime Adoption member and we will also send you regular updates and photos of your adopted cow.
