Dear Patrons / Bhaktas, Jaya Jagannath! All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Devasnana Purnima or Snana Yatra, the divine bathing festival of Lord Jagannath, resonates as one of the most ancient and sacred celebrations in Vedic tradition. As elucidated in the Skanda Purana, during the installation of the deities by Raja Indradyumna, this grand bathing ceremony was instituted. This auspicious occasion, commemorating the appearance day of Lord Jagannath, unfolds on the full-moon day of the month of Jyestha, gracing devotees with a sacred spectacle that reverberates across all significant Jagannath temples. Among these, the festivities at Puri stand out, drawing multitudes of pilgrims and seekers from far and wide, all eager to partake in the divine aura of this celestial event.
Join us this year as Lord Jagannatha Snana Yatra approaches, heralding a rare opportunity to personally bathe the Lord and receive His divine blessings. In the sacred precincts of Simantadvipa, amidst the hallowed abode of Rajapur Dhama, the timeless deities of Sri Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra Devi have been revered for five centuries. Here, daily worship, elaborate artis, and the offering of Chappan Bhog (56 preparations) are observed, along with a calendar replete with festivals throughout the year. This year, the divine Snana Yatra falls on the 22nd of June, 2024.
As propounded by Srila Prabhupada, this sacred festival offers a unique opportunity for spiritual purification and enlightenment. The Vedas extol the virtues of such divine ceremonies, emphasizing the sanctity of participating in the Lord's pastimes and receiving His direct blessings. We invite you to choose from the sevas listed below, embracing this rare occasion to garner immense spiritual benefits for yourself and your family.
Yours in the sublime service of Lord Jagannath, Snana-Yatra Committee.
