“O handsome son of Nanda, O Lord who enjoys springtime pastimes in the fragrant forest of Vrndavana, all glories to You! All glories to You!”
– Srila Rupa Goswami
The Vasanta season is celebrated as the best of seasons, not only because it represents life and joy, but because it is the most fortunate of all the seasons, as Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared in the Vasanta season.
“King Vasanta (the personification of the spring season) heard that Lord Gauranga would appear in the flower bearing spring, and he became jubilant and ecstatic and began to dance with his five brothers (who represent the other five seasons).” Hence this day marks the beginning of the spring season, beginning of new life, flowers blossom in their finest colours, yellow mustard flowers can be seen blooming as nature displays her majestic best. Thus, the colour of the festival is yellow.
A special outfit with bright, yellow-coloured flowers will be offered to Sri Radha-Madhava and turmeric paste will be applied to deities making Their complexion glow like the rays of a golden sun. It is one of the special darshan at Mayapur where all the devotees come together to make this wonderful decoration and outfits for the pleasure of Their Lordship.
This day is marks the auspicious appearance day of Vishnupriya devi, Sri Pundarika Vidyanidhi, Sri Raghunandan Thakura and disappearance day of Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura.
