D ear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

We pray this letter meets you in good health during these challenging times. In the purport to Srimad Bhagavatam 5.19.24, Srila Prabhupada states:

“The Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement has established its center in Māyāpur, the birthsite of Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, to give men the great opportunity to go there and perform a constant festival of saṅkīrtana-yajña”

Many of you will be aware that due to the current COVID 19 pandemic, the Indian government has declared a 21 day lockdown of the whole country. In compliance with the government restrictions, ISKCON Mayapur has also restricted the entry of visitors and devotees including the residential devotees of Mayapur, except for those engaged in the essential services of the temple.

As a direct result of these measures, all the Guest houses, Kitchens, Restaurants, Mahaprasadam stalls, Local shops and all the other sources of income for the maintenance of Temple operations have been shut down. Under these circumstances, it has become a great challenge for the Mayapur management to run the temple services due to insufficient funds.

At present, this lockdown is declared for the next 21 days, however there may be a high chance that the government may even increase the period of lockdown causing us even further difficulty. Even if the lockdown ceases be the end of the 21 days, it would still take us months to get back to the normal conditions in order to generate sufficient revenue to support the minimum necessary temple services.

Mayapur has various expenses such as the Deity services, Brahmachari prasadam, Goshala maintenance and maintenance for the community devotees serving in various departments throughout the year to facilitate and serve the devotees visiting Sri Mayapur dham.

Also many devotees from around the world are stranded in Mayapur, after their visit for the annual Gaura Purnima festival. So the guest house rooms are been provided at nominal charges to facilitate these stranded devotees to stay and have prasadam till they are able to return to their countries after the end of this lockdown.

In this time of crisis here at ISKCON Mayapur, we humbly appeal to all the members of the global ISKCON family to help us with your kind donations in order to maintain the daily services here.
