Ekachakra is a small village located 20 km away from the town of Rampurhat in Birbhum district of West Bengal (165 km from Sridham Mayapur). This small village is usually very quiet but During the Kurukshetra battle when Krishna broke His pledge of not taking sides in the battle to save Arjuna, He had charged with a wheel to strike Bhishma who had been fighting with Arjuna. When Bhishma sang Lord Krishna’s glories, Krishna lost His anger and threw the wheel away.

This wheel landed in this village and hence the name Ekachakra. The word Eka means one and the word chakra means a wheel. Our dear Lord Nityananda appeared in this small village of Ekachakra and for many many years, it was a cherished desire of ISKCON devotees, to build a beautiful temple there for the pleasure of the Lord.

This year being the 50th Anniversary of ISKCON, the devotees worked really hard to make that dream come true. And on 14 February, while in Sri Mayapur Dham devotees were celebrating Advaita Acharya appearance day, simultaneously, in Ekachakra Dham, another amazing transcendental celebration was happening.

Thousands of devotees gathered at Lord Nityananda’s birth place to celebrate the grand inauguration of our new ISKCON temple.

In Mayapur, Avaita prabhu was reverently bathed with love and devotion by his Pujaris and Mayapur temple room was filled with double bliss. On one side devotees had the live view of Advaita Acharya Abhishek and on the other side, a large screen was showing Abhishek of Ekachakra going on also live at the same time. Ekachakra had HH Lokanath Maharaj leading his usual most beautiful kirtan and HH Nitai prabhu was leading just as good in Mayapur. We felt like we didn’t have enough eyes to see everything, it was so much Mercy coming from all sides… Advaita Acharya while being bathed, was standing with folded hands bestowing his Merciful glance on all. He looked serious and grave like if he was not concerned with what was going on. He seemed thousands of miles away, perhaps in Ekachakra Dham crying at the beautiful sight of the Deitys installation in their new temple.  In Ekachakra, the mood was joyous and everyone had huge smiles, Beautiful Radha Vrindavan Mohan who were being bathe, were also smiling and looking at their devotees with Love and affection. Sri Gauranga Roy and Nitai Chandra Touching the heart of everyone were giving a glimpse of the true happiness that one feels in the spiritual world. On that day, no one felt like going anywhere, “This is the spiritual world, let’s all stay here forever…”

Such beautiful devotees united on the altar to bath their Lord, it was almost unreal, such a stunning moment… unbelievable…very very touching.

The new Ekachakra temple is a wonderful addition to ISKCON community and for all the world.

Lord Nityananda prabhu finally has his own temple and everyone can go and get his mercy not only in Sri Mayapur Dham. But now also in Ekachakra Dham.

All devotees agreed that the new temple is very beautiful and has a special “Ekachakra” charm.

After that amazing times spent admiring the Abhishek of the deitys, everyone felt hungry and were very happy to have a plate full of Prasad that was actually distributed all day long to anyone who was fortunate enough to be in Ekachakra.

Mayapur devotees were not left out, since so many devotees were in Ekachakra, Advaita prabhu Carinamrta was distributed in a very generous way to devotees.

The double blessing of February 14, 2016 will be forever engraved in the heart  of all devotees around the world. Mayapur TV generously broadcasted the entire Ekachakra and Mayapur Abhishek all over the planet so no one had to miss any second of this special very auspicious day.
