F or the pleasure of Their Lordships Sri Sri Pancatattva, Sri Sri Radha Madhav, Lord Nrsimhadev, HDG Srila Prabhupada and all devotees, Mayapur Local Preaching (MLP) organized a sankirtan at Dharmada village on 19th April. This place is located close to Dhubulia town, Belpukur and Rukunpur (one of the pastime places within Nabadwip dham area). Dharmada is getting modernized and many well to do people live there. Mr. Biswajit Biswas, one of the affluent gentlemen of Dharmada, came forward with an idea to hold a massive Harinaam sankirtan in Dharmada and approached HG Mathuresh prabhu from MLP.
Following his request, HG Mathuresh prabhu arranged a team of 50 devotees including 20 foreign devotees. Devotees went in a bus and four private cars. They reached Dharmada at 4:30 PM and the sankirtan started around 5 PM. HG Sankarsan Nitia prabhu and four other senior devotees namely HG Nitai Padakamala prabhu, HG Madhav Hari prabhu, HG Amritesh Nitai prabhu and HG Ananda Bardhan prabhu also went for the sankirtan.
There was a huge procession with many flags and festoons. More than a thousand people joined sankirtan and they chanted and danced enthusiastically. The procession looked like Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s sankirtan party as described in Sri Caitanya Caritamrita.
Harinaam lasted for one and a half hour. After that there was a stage program at Sri Durga Mandap. HG Madhur Nitai prabhu and HG Sankarsan prabhu inaugurated the stage with mangalacaran and bhajan kirtan. Next, MLP director HG Sankarsana Nitai prabhu delivered a thought provoking lecture which lasted for one hour. There was also distribution of gaja prasadam, MLP leaflets and Srila Prabhupada’s books to the assembled public. In the end, khicri mahaprasad was distributed to everyone. Mayapur devotees had prasadam in the bus on way back to Mayapur.
Overall the program was a grand success and attracted people’s hearts. The management was also very happy and expressed a desire to arrange this program on a larger scale next year.
