On the morning of 13th December, by the arrangement of Krishnanagar (Nadia) D.M., there was a walking procession in Krishnanagar city, for the occasion of ‘Sabar janya Soucagar’. The administrative department called different religious organizations, such as, Christians, Muslims, Ramakrishna, Mother Teresa society, and ISKCON to join the program. The program was to demonstrate social unity to help clean the environment.
We went with a bus of around 50 devotees from ISKCON Mayapur at 7:45 AM, including one of our senior Brahamacari’s His Grace Radha Duyti Prabhu. Moreover 50 devotees from the Krishnanagar Local Bhakti Vriksha also participated.
The procession started at 9:30AM from Krishnanagar stadium and proceeded through Sadar hospital road, high-street road, kotwali Thana road, AV School road and returned to the stadium around 11:30 AM.
With a huge gathering of about 1000 people the procession moved and covered a lengthy portion of the city road. In the front the banner was held by more than 4 different representatives from various religious groups. His Grace Acuyta Arjun Pr. and Bhakti Swarup Pr. were representing ISKCON.
Our Hare Krishna devotees couldn’t remain silent, they started Harinam Sankirtan at the middle of the procession with ecstatic dance and kirtan. Seeing devotees smiling face, the road side people also felt happiness and chanted along with joy. Everyone was surprised seeing the Harinam Sankirtan going on without any distinction of cast or creed. Yes, that was the prediction of Srila Bhaktivinod Thakura, a great vaisnava acarya in our Goudiya vaisnava Sampradaya, that “a movement is going to start very soon when the holy name of the Lord will be chanted anywhere in the world without any discrimination between cast and creed……”. Obviously, that desire is now being fulfilled under the spiritual leadership of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada, and through the society he founded, ISKCON.
The ‘Sabar janya Soucagar’ program will help to keep clean material environment, but actual cleanliness comes when the hearts of the people become clean. This becomes possible by the chanting of the holy names of the Lord.
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.
Thank you all very much.
