Y esterday the School Preaching Department of ISKCON Mayapur had a Nadia Gaurav Festival, this was a humble endeavor by His Holiness Bhakti Purushottam Swami Maharaj to spread the glories of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to all the educational institutes of Nadia. The books depicting the life history of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu were distributed to all the schools. The students were encouraged to study the books and present their knowledge of the book.
There were also other competitions such as Bhagavad Gita sloka chanting, art and bhajan.
Nearly 6500 students from 115 schools participated in the 1st round in their respective schools. Students from each school were divided into 2 groups, class 7th to 9th, and class 10th to 12th. In each group the three best students were selected. These students along with their parents were invited to stay in Mayapur and receive the golden opportunity to have darshan of their Lordships Sri Sri RadhaMadhava, Lord Sri Narasimhadeva, Sri Pancha-tattva, and Srila Prabhupada.
They took this opportunity to attend the lectures and participate in kirtans by His Holiness Bhakti Purushottam Swami Maharaj, and other senior devotees.
The participants then attended a written exam about the life story of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu on 19th July 2014. The best students of each grade were awarded with a spiritual souvenir along with Rs 15,000 for first prize, Rs 10,000 for second prize, Rs 5,000 for third prize, and five consolation prizes.
The participants of the Bhagavad Gita sloka chanting, art and bhajan competition were also awarded with a spiritual souvenir along with Rs 5,000 for first prize, Rs 3,000 for second prize, Rs 2,000 for third prize, and five consolation prizes for each category.
