The ultimate aim of the Institute for Spiritual Culture (ISC) is to facilitate what Srila Prabhupada envisioned: a cultural revolution for the re-spiritualization of the entire human society. To achieve this ultimate aim, the ISC will strive to accomplish the following goals:
* To make the members of our ISKCON Society more aware of the importance of spiritual culture.
* To systematically train the Society’s members in various aspects of spiritual culture through courses and retreats, using a curriculum based on Srila Prabhupada’s books, especially Srimad-Bhagavatam.
* To help ISKCON centers establish supportive networks that will guide and encourage the members in integrating spiritual culture into their daily lives.
* To increase social stability within our ISKCON Society by creating strong and healthy families, wherein the members fulfill their purifying duties toward one another.
* To protect our ISKCON Society from external influences detrimental to spiritual practice.
* To ensure that ISKCON will have powerful leadership based on the principles of spiritual culture.
* To promote among devotees an attitude of mutual care, which is intrinsic to genuine spiritual culture.
* To set an example for the whole world of how human life is meant to be lived: in peace and harmony based on strong families, which facilitates spiritual development.
* To unite ISKCON’s devotees from all nations under the umbrella of the principles of spiritual culture and thus establish Srila Prabhupada’s vision of the real United Nations.
Spiritual and material cultures are as different as day and night because they stem from vastly different worldviews and ideals. Vaisnava culture is the ultimate spiritual culture because it is Krsna’s culture, which He has provided to support our spiritual development. Once understanding the universal underlying principles, values and wisdom forming the foundation of this culture, we can enter within it and derive tremendous devotional enlivenment and benefit, no matter where we might be living in this world.
We have been meditating upon and developing the course ‘Exploring the Roots of Spiritual Culture’ over several years and first taught it in Mayapur in January 2012, leaving powerful impressions in the hearts of the participants. Since then we have been offering it every year in Ukraine, Germany and Mayapur with such encouraging responses that we are inspired to offer it far and wide to as many Vaisnavas as possible. In order to further expand and promote these teachings we have now established the Institute for Spiritual Culture.
Please come and join us for our inauguration program on the 5th of March at the open area of the Goshala in Mayapur.
We are looking forward to receive and serve you….
