Bhaktivedanta National School was started in the year 2003 and is now in its 12th year. The School has got affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) this year. Admission to the school is open to all. A total of 609 students are studying in the school and out of which 106 are from the Minority Community.

Every day in the first hour the students have Spiritual Classes in the School. Students from class 1 and above were given beads for chanting and in the first few minutes the class begins to chant one round of Hare Krishna Maha Mantra.

During Damodara month, one room was exclusively and ingeniously converted into an altar room, decorated with flowers, incenses and rangolis, where the children of all classes offered lamps and sang Damodarastakam every morning. Special Bhagavatam classes were arranged for the students of the senior classes, allowing them to associate with and hear from senior devotees.

However, the highlight of Bhaktivedanta National School Kartik Festival was the Japa Marathon on the last five days of Bhishma Panchaka from 3rd November to 7th November 2014…

Students enthusiastically participated in the Japa Marathon. Even the children from other faiths chanted as many as ten rounds and even sixteen rounds per day. Everyday right after the morning assembly, there would be a rush in the classes as the children would come forward with their chanting scores. The chanting records of each class as well as of each student were diligently kept. They were then made into graphs and were put up on the notice board and were updated regularly

A beautiful Japa Card was designed and distributed to the students for them to keep record of their Japa count. Every class had a display of chart where the score with names of the students and their Japa count were displayed. In the main notice board of the school there was a graphic chart displaying the Japa count for each class.

The unending enthusiasm of the children was much inspiring. As many as 2,600,000 holy names of the Lord were chanted by the students in JUST 5 days!

Towards the end, in appreciation of the enthusiasm exhibited by the students by Chanting the name of Lord a small celebration was held and cakes were distributed to all the children and gifts were awarded to 19 students who chanted maximum number of rounds.

We thank all the Teachers and Management of the school for facilitating the joyous event and their sincere effort in receiving the mercy of the Lord.

Hare Krishna

Srila Prabhupada Said – Children and those with child-like mentalities will do better to chant ‘Hare Krishna’ and take prasādam. We cannot water down the philosophy to make it more palatable. If you take care of the children very nicely and provide them Krishna consciousness atmosphere, surely they will come out first class Krishna Conscious devotees…

Very inspired to see that boys from various cultures are chanting & motivating others to chant also under the shelter of Lord chaitanya.

SB-1.12.30. SP “srila Jiva Goswami remarks in this connection that every child, if given an impression of the Lord from his very childhood, certainly becomes a great devotee of the Lord like Maharaja Parikshit”.

If someone takes responsibility without force that is love – Radhanath swami. And taking spiritual care of the children is the shelter of divinity.
