O n Sunday, 11 November 2012, the devotees at ISKCON Mayapur were most fortunate to be graced with the arrival of HH Radhanath Swami Maharaj. Maharaj arrived for a grand Mayapur Yatra, involving 4000 devotees. A grand reception was arranged to greet Maharaj and welcome him into the ISKCON Mayapur Campus. Sweet kirtan reverberated as young devotees offered an arati to Maharaj as he entered, and the path on which he walked was strewn with flower petals. The local elephants formed part of the colourful parade to welcome Maharaj on a procession through the Campus. The road was elaborately decorated with colourful rangoli at several points. Maharaj then took darshan of the Lordships to his full satisfaction before being escorted to his quarters.
A warm Mayapur reception was also offered to the devotees on Yatra by a team of local devotees, who greeted the guests with chandan paste and also some light Prasadam snack.
The Yatra will visit various holy places in Navadvip Dham, including Ekachakra, Katwa and Kalna over a period of ten days. Every evening, there will be a sweet katha given by Maharaj in a specially-erected pandal.
Tomorrow is Govardhana Puja and Diwali. Govardhan-puja will be celebrated in magnificent style with a massive Annkut in the Sri Radha-Madhava temple. We may expect mind-blowing kirtan, ecstatic dancing, wonderful katha, lavish worship of Giriraj and lovely maha-prasadam. Usually, hundreds of bhoga preparations are cooked for the pleasure of Giriraj. This year, a special pandal has been erected to allow devotees from the Yatra to prepare their offerings to Giriraj Govardhan.
It all promises to be an incredible Festival of sadhu-sanga…! You can watch the festivities live at Mayapur live at Mayapur.tv.
