T his year Vyasapuja festival of HH Jayapataka Swami is special in two ways- being the 70th birthday celebrations -Bhimarata Santi and after a gap of one year of Maharaja’s not present in Mayapur, (2018 Vyasapuja was held in Chennai), this year again Vyasapuja will take place in his home, Sri dham Mayapur.

Vyasapuja festival message by HH Bhakti Purusottama Swami:

My dear God brothers and God sisters,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to Guru Maharaja. All glories to your devotional services.

As you are aware, not much time is left until we celebrate the 70th vyasapuja of our beloved Guru Maharaja. You are all aware of the difficulties Guru Maharaja has gone through in order to still be with us, and it is a great boon that the Lord has given us a chance to celebrate his 70th vyasapuja with him.

We are planning to have a grand celebration for this occasion at Sridhama Mayapur. The idea behind this celebration is that it will be a festival of gratitude, an opportunity for us to thank the Lord for answering our deep prayers to allow our Guru Maharaja to be with us once more.

It is also customary that on someone’s 70th birthday, their near and dear ones pray to the Lord for their continued wellbeing. In South India this practice is very prominent, and is known as Bhima rathi.

For the 50th vyasa puja of Gurudeva, we celebrated very nicely with Kanak Abhishek to Srila Prabhupada. For Guru Maharaja’s 60 vyasa puja, we also had a grand celebration, in spite of his health crisis. Similarly, we want to have a wonderful celebration for his 70th vyasa puja.

The two main purposes behind this grand celebration are as follows:
The first purpose is to thank Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Sri Sri Pancha-tattva, and Lord Narasimhadeva for the boon They have given us by allowing Srila Gurudeva to be with us.

The second purpose is for us to pray to the Lord that Guru Maharaja is protected and well in the future, so that he can nicely engage in fulfilling the desires of Srila Prabhupada and guide us in helping him to complete his uncompleted projects. Every additional day that Guru Maharaja is present on this planet brings auspiciousness to all of humanity!

The grand 70th vyasa puja celebration of Guru Maharaja is scheduled to take place on April 16th, 2019 in Sridhama Mayapur.

We would like to see at least 10,000 of Guru Maharaja’s disciples and aspiring disciples come to Mayapur to pray for Guru Maharaja and to get his blessings. Many of his disciples have not seen him for a long time, so this will also give them an opportunity to see him.

To facilitate this grand celebration, we will build a huge pandal wherein
10,000 devotees can sit comfortably and take part in the festival. Along with the general vyasa puja celebration, we also plan to have a special Bhima rathi ceremony.

There are a few other special events that are also planned.

There are a number of sponsorship opportunities for this celebration:

– One special feature of the festival will be the offering of 70
silver lamps to the Deities. Devotees can sponsor these lamps and take them home after offering them to the Lord as reminders of this great occasion.

– There will also be an opportunity for devotees to sponsor silver and copper kalashes which will be used for washing the lotus feet of Guru Maharaja. The sponsor will receive the used kalash as prasad.

– There will be also many nicely carved wooden padukas which will be offered to Guru Maharaja to wear, and the sponsor will get to keep them as prasad.

– To make this grand celebration successful we need a significant
amount of funds. I humbly request our God brothers and God sisters from each yatra and well-established temple to collectively donate at least Rs 2 lakhs, for which they will get one silver lamp as prasad for their yatra to keep as a memorial of this grand occasion. Small yatras or temples who cannot donate Rs 2 lakhs can try to donate Rs 1 lakh.

– There are other possibilities for individual devotes to participate
by sponsoring a silver lamp for Rs 51000, a kalash for Rs 21000, and padukas for Rs 11000.

Disciples of Guru Maharaja who live in Mayapur have already started to plan the logistics of the celebration, and we have also created an International Committee to guide the Mayapur organizers.

Very soon a website, www.jpsvyasapuja2019.com, will be ready. We have created a separate email address where devotees can write with any inquiries.

I request you to please spread this message among our God brothers and God sisters so that together we can all make this 70th vyasa puja a grand success. Everyone’s helping hand is requested!

Your humble servant,
Bhakti Purusottama Swami
