On 2nd June (Snana yatra day), devotees from all over Mayapur visited Rajapur Temple to participate in the annual abhishek of our most beloved Lordships Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra. The festivities started early in the morning with a beautiful darshan of their Lordships, and a grand ceremony of bringing Them to Their snan vedi, or bathing ground. Senior devotees offered the first abhishek with various substances such as milk, ghee, honey, yogurt, coconuts, juices, and water. After the initial abhishek, all the devotees that had gathered in a long line came to give their offering of abhishek. The bathing continued for the next four hours or so, accompanied with ecstatic kirtans.
After the snana, Their Lordships were dried with nice soft towels, and brought back onto the altar. They were then dressed in a splendid elephant dress (Hathi vesa) made up of flowers and offered more than 100 food items (bhogas).
Last but not the least, we sincerely thank below devotees who sponsored sevas on this auspicious occasion.
